Admission process
Admission Process
The Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association welcomes applications from students who are committed to academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and active community engagement.
Our admission procedure is structured, transparent, and conducted under clearly defined evaluation criteria. A detailed description of the admission procedure can be found in the Admission and Study Regulations.
- Application Form
The first step is the completion of an online application form. Applicants are required to provide:
- personal information,
- details regarding their academic and professional background.
This stage allows for an initial assessment of the applicant’s academic orientation and commitment to active participation in the community. There are two admission periods a year: February and September.
Application form: Available during the admission period
- Written Assessment
Following the submission of the application form, applicants take part in a written admission assessment. The written stage consists of reflective and competence-based tasks designed to evaluate critical thinking, reasoning skills and self-reflection. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers in this stage; the purpose of the written assessment is to gain insight into the applicants’ way of thinking, motivation, and approach to problem-solving.
- Structured Interview
All applicants who complete the written section are invited to a structured interview held and organized by the Admission Committee. The interview is conducted according to a predefined scenario and evaluated using a scoring system based on clearly established criteria. The Admission Committee consists predominantly of student members, ensuring that the evaluation reflects the community’s academic and professional standards.
The oral interviews take place:
- in May (spring semester),
- in October (autumn semester).
- Evaluation and Decision
The Admission Committee prepares a professional recommendation based on the written and oral evaluation results. The final membership status is formally established in accordance with the Organizational and Operational Regulations (3. § (13)).
- Admission and Onboarding
New members participate in a structured onboarding process that includes both formal and informal integration elements (such as movie and pizza nights, outdoor cooking). The formal onboarding involves Student Association Departments' introductory sessions, mentor allocation, orientation to the organisational structure, and introduction of possibilities to active participation in community and academic programmes.
By joining the Student College, members gain access to a wide range of academic events, workshops, research opportunities, and community activities, fostering both professional development and an engaging student experience.
Join a community that values Smart Networks, Deep Knowledge and Infinite Opportunities – built on structured academic standards and democratic student governance.
