The Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association is proud to celebrate another outstanding achievement of one of its members: Noémi Szabó has been selected as a member of the American Youth Council (AYC), joining a group of 17 young Hungarians who will contribute their perspectives on issues affecting younger generations.

The Youth Council is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State, through which U.S. embassies and consulates around the world have established groups bringing together young people and emerging leaders. The initiative provides an opportunity for members of younger generations to express their views, exchange ideas, and work together on challenges relevant to their peers and wider society.

In Hungary, the Council consists of 17 selected young people who provide feedback to the U.S. Ambassador in Budapest and Embassy staff on issues affecting young people. During their mandate, members also work together in groups on projects covering areas including diplomacy, international relations, energy security, freedom of speech, and practical business and financial knowledge.

The programme officially began with its inaugural meeting in September, providing members with their first opportunity to meet fellow participants from across Hungary, establish professional connections, and begin their work together.

For Noémi, the appointment represents both an important personal achievement and a valuable opportunity for further professional development.

“This mandate represents an extraordinary opportunity for me, as it will not only allow me to gain new professional experience but also to build valuable relationships in the coming period. I am eagerly looking forward to the challenges of the year ahead and to working together.”

She also highlighted the importance of the inaugural meeting and the opportunity to personally meet Caroline Savage, Chargé d’Affaires.

“The programme officially began with the inaugural meeting in September. It was an excellent opportunity for me to get to know my fellow participants from all corners of the country. It was a particular honour to have the chance to speak in person with Ms Caroline Savage, Chargé d’Affaires.”

Representing the SZKSZ community

Noémi’s selection is particularly meaningful for the Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association because it reflects several principles at the heart of its talent development model: professional excellence, international engagement, social awareness, leadership development, and active student responsibility.

The Association aims to provide an environment in which talented students can develop beyond the boundaries of their university studies. Alongside scientific research and academic excellence, members are encouraged to broaden their perspectives, build international and professional networks, engage with real-world challenges, and actively represent their communities.

Noémi intends to carry this responsibility with her throughout her mandate:

“During my term of office, my primary aim is to represent the Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association, Széchenyi István University and my fellow students with dedication.”

Her participation in the American Youth Council therefore represents not only an outstanding individual opportunity, but also another example of SZKSZ members taking their knowledge, experience, and perspectives beyond the University and becoming active participants in wider professional and international communities.

The Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association proudly congratulates Noémi on her selection and wishes her an inspiring and successful year filled with new experiences, professional connections, and opportunities to represent the voices and perspectives of her fellow students. 🌍🎓🤝
